MusicNSW leads regional music development with seven Regional Music Officers. Patrick Coomey, who also works as Arts OutWest’s Music Industry Development Officer, will be the Central West RMO.

Create NSW has developed protocols to give guidance and direction to the sector when working with Aboriginal artists, cultural practitioners and communities.

Supported by a 2020 Arts OutWest Micro Grant, Bathurst Theatre Company’s audio series ‘Blokes Don’t Talk’, produced with radio 2MCE, is now available as a podcast.

2020 was a challenging year for so many but one where Arts OutWest honed our strengths and delivered really worthwhile support and advocacy for the region.

Exhibition to June 12. Now on at the Cowra Regional Gallery is the wonderful regional art exhibition the Lachlan Valley Biennial Art Awards 2021 showcasing 100 artworks by 61 artists based within a radius of 100 klms from Cowra.

Cowra Civic Centre has announced a program of theatre, comedy, dance, world and classical music, workshops, feature films, world cinema and documentary screenings including Australian and international artists.

Sunday 6 June 2021. Embark on an adventure behind the Forbes Shire art scene. A Forbes Arts Society project  proudly supported by Arts OutWest and the NSW Government’s Arts Restart.

May 28 – June 6, Tremain’s Mill Bathurst. A curated exhibition of work from artists in the Arts OutWest region on the theme of ‘overcome’.

Sunday 30 May in Blayney. Explore local arts and culture, network, catch up with AOW activities and meet the team. ALL WELCOME.

Are you looking for an outlet to sell your art work, graphic designs, photographs, jewellery ceramics, illustrations, wood / metal work, home decor items, textiles, chocolates, soaps, candles, honey, sauce and pickles?

Runs 6 May to 30 May. This exhibition will showcase work from artists within the Central West. Arts OutWest is a Platform partner.

RADO Network: A new collaborative web portal hosts links to RADO built websites across the state offering a variety of information for visitors, from culture maps to creative directories of artists, to local events, artist profiles and even linked social media accounts.

Congratulations to Wayne Miles ~ winner of the 2021 Forbes Shire Council Heritage Art Competition Aquisition Prize for his contemporary interpretation of the well-known ambrotype photograph of Ben Hall.

O’Connell musician Kris Schubert used a 2021 Arts Restart Micro Grant to run the first of a series of delightful outdoor music performances in the village on the first weekend of May.

Just wonderful to see Christine McMillan showing in Kandos! Wood, carp scales, echidna spines by Christine McMillan is currently on show until mid-June.

Sunday 16 May 2021, Orange Botanic Gardens. Orange-based Dirt Lane Press launches the latest picture book by Orange writer Margarete Lamond with an installation story walk. 

May 22 & 23. The Bathurst-based community choir is rehearsing a new show for May, entitled “Music for a While”. Proudly supported by the NSW Government’s Arts Restart funding and Arts OutWest.

Applications close 10 May, 2021. Applications are being considered for positions on Arts OutWest’s skills-based board.

April 2021: The first exhibition at Platform Arts Hub Blayney was the annual Textures of One exhibition. The crowds rolled in, the art was great and the space looks sensational.

Expressions of interest close 3 May. A course of arts business and industry skills for creatives.

May 7-9, Bathurst.  Carillonists and bellringers from around the country, together with the absolute best local adult and school bands, orchestras, choirs and ensembles. Supported by an Arts OutWest Micro Grant.

23- 25 July. The Travelling Film Festival comes to Orange.  Australian and international features, short films, and documentaries from across the globe directly to our region.

From the 90 applications we received, Arts OutWest has been able to fund 27 grants to the value of $36,340.

Charles Sturt University’s director of external engagement Julia Andrews has been appointed to the Board of state peak body Regional Arts NSW.

Bathurst visual artist Karen Golland has been appointed to the board of First Draft, Australia’s premier space for emerging and experimental arts practice.

Orange Regional Gallery’s Extension Project reached major milestones recently with the pouring of the 1070m2 slab, blockwork starting on the collection store, and community donations for the project reaching $415,000.

Composer Peter Kennard and Portland-based visual Artist Sue Daley have recently completed a project entitled ‘Love Letter’ funded by a Blue Mountains City of the Arts Trust, Quick Response Grant.

The ‘Bird in Hand’ sculpture is the latest installation to be unveiled along Forbes’ Sculpture Down the Lachlan trail.

Applications for Arts OutWest’s Arts Restart Micro Grants have now closed and the response from across the region was huge: 90 applications (87 eligible)! That. Is. A. Lot.

‘LET THE RIVER GO’ is the new LP by O’Connell based band The Safety of Life at Sea.

NOW CLOSED. ‘Kangaroo’ is a new play by Miranda Gott produced by Local Stages, Q Theatre and Lingua Franca. This is a casting call for three professional actors for the premiere and tour mid 2021.

As Orange Regional Gallery’s Extension Project moves into full gear, one of Australia’s most acclaimed artists, John Olsen AO has made a remarkable gesture to mark the occasion.

Orange City Council is on the lookout for members of the community to share untold stories of previous generations and events in Orange’s history.

Condobolin’s third SkyFest: Miima Warrabinya will be held at the Wiradjuri Study Centre on the 3- 5 September. Supported by Arts Restart, CASP and IVAIS.

The first live music concert of the Inland Sea of Sound in 2021 will feature three great bands for the ridiculously low price of $20 for Adults and $15 for Students and Concessions (Pensioners & Unemployed).

Country Arts Support Program: Eight local groups will share $23,812 in funding for small arts projects in 2021

Heather Ferguson has started work as the manager of the new Platform Arts Hub at Blayney Railway Station.

This beautiful new artwork is located along the Mid-Western Highway in the small, rural village of Caragabal in Central West NSW. Completed in 2020, it aims to celebrate the unique local bird life at Caragabal and raise awareness of local threatened species.

The Hill End based artist and writer’s biography ‘Kate Kelly; the true story of Ned Kelly’s little sister’ is published by Allen and Unwin – release date 16 February 2021.

Seven organisations – including Kando’s CEMENTA – have been announced as successful recipients of the Australia Government’s Regional Arts Fund (RAF) Recovery Grants in NSW

Arts OutWest is curating and supporting a photography exhibition at T.arts Gallery in Bathurst. Opening Saturday 6 February at 2pm, the exhibition will run from 1-14 February 2021.

A mini bus of kids ages 7-14 years, a list of Central West destinations and plenty of public art and cultural experiences. Orange – Eugowra – Grenfell – Carcoar.

Residents of Parkes celebrated the opening of a new learning and cultural facility last month at The Parkes Library.

This Funding will assist The CORRIDOR project 2021 Arts and Cultural program aiming to ignite innovative, contemporary, collaborations between artists, community, and tourists.

The Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund will provide $408,395 to support 18 new projects in regional NSW  in 2021.

Aboriginal artists in Forbes participated in screen printing workshops teaching the skills to put their designs onto textiles.

The geolocative storytelling app won the Oral History NSW Award and was shortlisted for the National Trust Heritage Awards.

The restoration and revitalization of the waiting rooms at Blayney Railway Station is underway, preparing for it to become the region’s newest community arts space.

Cowra Vocal Ensemble used an Arts OutWest Micro Grant to take their weekly choir practices online, continuing to sing together even when they can’t be together.

A simple plan really: the Carcoar-based visual artist used a Micro Grant to purchase materials to get started on her next exhibition. She got a bit more.

With a small grant Bathurst Seymour Centre brought in photographer Bill Deeley to share share skills with their clients remotely during Covid-19.

Young people in Lake Cargelligo got their hands on ceramic making materials with an Arts OutWest Micro Grant.

Viviana Hamilton develops programs to engage people living with dementia (in the community) in a safe, enjoyable social environment at the regional gallery.

Writer and literacy consultant Paul Stafford tapped into Micro Grants to further develop the materials for the excellent History Here schools program.

Local Lithgow Aboriginal group Barrinang received a Micro Grant to work with Ngumpie Weaving to deliver an online session to participants and to mail out materials.

Canowindra singer/ songwriter Nerida Cuddy has spent the last few months sharing new songs online, with the support of a Micro Grant.

Celtic harpist Martyn Cook used an Arts OutWest Micro Grant to buy equipment to move teaching online and to create a site featuring soothing harp music.

Internationally acclaimed, Central West visual artist Mandy Martin put her Micro Grant towards materials and freight for her 2021 Freemantle Biennale project.

An Arts OutWest Micro Grant has contributed to the development of a gallery space as part of a wellness business in Grenfell.

The Lithgow Outstanding Event of the Year Award was presented to TryBal Productions for The Garden of the Mind, an installation and performance that aimed to raise awareness of mental health and promote social inclusion and wellness within the community.

Bringing not just great music but a wonderful sense of community and support, eight choirs from the region performed at our 2nd choral event in BLAYNEY on September 22, 2019.

Arts OutWest works in partnership with Bathurst Seymour Centre to create regular singing sessions with people, including older people who use the centre, carers and staff. The choir also links with other events in Bathurst’s choral calendar and community events….

Arts OutWest Arts and Health Coordinator, Christine McMillan, and Oberon Arts Council and current Chair of Arts OutWest Board, Fran Charge, have designed an arts program at Oberon.
