ARTS IN HEALTH INFRASTRUCTURE STRATEGY

As part of the redevelopment, the Hospital is seeking artworks for a range of clinical and non-clinical areas. The Arts Strategy aims to:

1. Contribute to enabling a therapeutic environment for patients, workforce and community;

2. Support improved health care outcomes for the community

3. Support a focus on Aboriginal health and wellbeing

Creatives with a relationship to the Bathurst region are invited to register their Expression of Interest (EOI) for a key visual arts opportunity – Creative Commission: Package 2.

OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW

This is a unique opportunity for a regional visual artist with a relationship to the region to develop a body of work, that is both socially engaged and responsive to the landscape narratives of the Bathurst region.

Artists/creative teams are invited to work collaboratively with project managers, design teams, architects and hospital stakeholders to develop creative outcomes. Open communication and the ability to respond positively to feedback will help creative ideas align with project requirements.

Creative Commissions: Package 2

  1. Up to 10 artworks to contribute to a new art collection for the Bathurst Hospital places of wait and rest, in both clinical and non-clinical areas
  2. Artists/creative teams connected to the Bathurst region (refer Western NSW Local Health District Southern sector map in FAQ) working at all stages of creative practice.
  3. Artworks should provide a sense of joy, wonder and uplift to health service consumers and staff.
  4. For most areas, artworks reflecting landscapes or landmarks from the Bathurst region will be most impactful due to biophilic design principles – connecting staff and patients to nature.
  5. Preference will be given to 2D artworks readily able to be digitised as large scale wall graphics.
  6. Original artworks of mixed media, drawing, painting, printmaking, design and collage will be considered for this opportunity and MUST be created by the applicant.
  7. Preference will be given to large scale, original and two-dimensional artworks reflecting the region’s landscape. Photography is not recommended due to the technical requirements to reproduce and crop artworks at large scale.
