Joined At The Art will be an eight‑week series of workshops, from June 2026, at Oberon Multi-Purpose Health Service aged care, bringing residents together with students from Oberon’s St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School.

Supported by The Pines Wind Farm, an inter-generational arts project will bring creativity and connection to the heart of the Oberon community.

With the guidance of artists Catherine McNamara, Renata Commisso and Abby Smith, participants will explore puppetry, music, textiles, movement and drama – building relationships and sparking joy across generations.

“We ran two trial sessions in March, which were wonderful, full of fun and laughter,” said project facilitator Catherine McNamara.

“Our project brings together young people and people living in aged care in structured art workshops during the cold months of Oberon’s winter – clinically shown to be a time when the risk of depression is high,” Ms McNamara said.

“We’re aiming for improved health outcomes including physical exercise, cognitive function, and social connection for both groups,” Ms McNamara said.

The project is delivered by Arts OutWest and supported by Oberon Arts Council, who together have a long history of bringing arts and health experiences to the residents of Oberon MPS through their innovative arts and health model.

The two pilot workshops were funded by Oberon Arts Council.

Arts OutWest  is the regional arts development organisation for the NSW Central West.
