What is Compareo?

Compareo is a weekly inclusive arts program, providing an exciting opportunity for people with disability to explore performance skills.

Running for the last three years, these classes aim to improve confidence, communication, fitness, and team work. Through engagement in a specialised drama program, participants develop their self-expression, creativity and emotional vocabulary.

Compareo’ is Latin for ‘be visible, be present’, and these workshops are an empowering and skills-based way to build confidence, self-expression and share your creative flair.

Compareo is led by Catherine McNamara with guest tutors.

Cath has a long history of facilitating performing arts programs for and with people with disabilities. A major highlight was the premiere of her children’s theatre play ViV! in Bathurst in last year, where members of Bathurst’s Compareo program helped prepare, plan and take part in the professional performance.

This program aligns with NDIS participants’ core funding, under Assistance with Social, Economic, and Community Participation.
