Staff at the Wattlegrove Unit, a voluntary Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre at Bloomfield Hospital in Orange, contacted Arts OutWest looking for participatory art making workshop for clients that would create bright new artworks for a space that had none.
We brought in the fantastic Tim Winters, a well-known Stuart Town-based painter and print maker who has taught widely. Tim was the first artist in residence as part of Orange Health Services’ Arts and Health program almost a decade ago.
The workshops at Wattlegrove ran over four weeks with support and interaction from health staff.
(Tim Winters volunteered his time to run an extra workshop and the group of participants have themeselves decided to continue meeting regularly to make art as they enjoyed the activity so much).
The artworks made will now be displayed and enjoyed in the Wattlegrove Unit.
Wattlegrove is on the Orange Health Service Bloomfield campus and accommodates a combination of 16 men and women in single rooms.
