Photographers capturing the creativity of the NSW Central West

In 2019 we started a program called the Media Associates – photographers and digital storytellers in each part of the region tasked with capturing both Arts OutWest activities and the great local arts scene.

After a public call out a dozen photographers across the region were chosen as the team.

Under the leadership of Communications Officer Steven Cavanagh the program involved a weekend of training together in Canowindra in 2019 with a follow up session on videography in Bathurst in 2021 and using Qlab technology in 2022.

In 2021 we showcased their personal works at the exhibition TEN Photographers at t.arts Gallery Bathurst.

For our 50th Anniversary in June 2024 the Media Associates were featured the in ‘Behind the Lens’ exhibition at St Andrews Hall Forbes.

2024 has also included a training weekend for the media associates at Charles Sturt University’s Media Hub (Bathurst) and mentoring at the Forbes events.

Nicola Mason now looks after the Media Associates program. The group has adapted and changed as some photographers have moved away and new people have been brought into the program as needed.

See the work of Arts OutWest media associates across this website (including our projects, CASP projects) and the Culture Maps Central NSW website.
