Last week Arts OutWest got to see the works created through the 40th Anniversary of Veritas House project with young artists and their mentors.
With the funds provided by a 2021 AOW micro grant, materials were purchased by 4 young artists to complete an artwork. Veritas House were able to engage local, established artists as mentors to help develop the young artists’ creative ideas further and build up new skills.
Resulting artworks:
• A half skull, half self-portrait – Oil on Canvas.
• A ram’s skull sketch – Graphite on Paper.
• A large-scale photo collage exploring isolation, depression, and darkness in contrast to togetherness, positive mental health, and lightness – Photo prints on box-frame canvases (pictured).
• An Australian bush scene with a fireman rescuing a Koala – Mixed Media.
Artworks were unveiled in a launch and celebration at BRAG this morning @bathurstregionalartgallery
Artworks will be permanently installed at Veritas House @veritas_house
Our Micro Grants in 2021 were supported by the NSW Government’s Arts Restart funding.
