NOW CLOSED. Closes 14 May. Calling young artists. Veritas House (Bathurst and Orange) Veritas Youth Art Project coincides with Youth Homelessness Matters Day and the 40th anniversary of Veritas House. Supported by an Arts OutWest Arts Restart Micro Grant with funds from the NSW Government.
Young artists are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to create an artwork that reflects themselves, tells their story or otherwise connects with this year’s Youth Week Theme: ‘Together more than Ever’.
Submissions can be for paintings, drawings, collages, photographs, or graphic artworks, but must be 100% the artist’s own original artwork. Completed artworks must also be wall-mountable – either on canvas, framed or hung on the wall in some way.
At this stage you don’t need to actually produce the artwork – you just have to pitch your fantastic idea for what you would like to create.
This project is supported by the NSW Government’s Arts Restart through an Arts OutWest Micro Grant, by Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, by Bathurst Youth Council and by Young Action Council Orange.
ELIGIBILITY
Expressions of Interest (EOI) will be accepted from artists aged 12 to 25, living in Bathurst, Orange and surrounding areas up to a 100km radius (check out Google Maps if you are unsure, or get in touch with us to check). Artists under the age of 18 at the time of submitting the EOI must have the permission of a parent, guardian or carer.
TIMEFRAMES
Expressions of Interest are open from 21 April and can be submitted online or delivered to any Veritas House office prior to 5pm, Friday, 14 May 2021.
A Selection Panel will include representatives from Veritas House, Bathurst and Orange Youth Councils, and representatives from the local arts community. The panel will assess the submitted EOIs and select/commission no less than four artists to produce their proposed artworks.
Artists will be notified of the outcome by Wednesday, 26 May 2021 and provided with materials and introduced to their nominated artist mentor, so that mentoring sessions can take place up to 30 June.
Artworks need to be completed and delivered to Veritas by Friday, 16 July to allow two weeks for framing and installation; and will be officially unveiled in August, 2021.
