100 years of Rhapsody in Blue

Celebrate the centenary of George Gershwin's tuneful hit, Rhapsody In Blue, and fasten your seatbelts for a fun ride!

Composed in 1924 and controversial from the first, Rhapsody In Blue challenged notions regarding the divide between classical and popular music.  Its relatively free form flew in the face of symphonic structure; and it combined freshness and originality with an irresistible accessibility. First performed on 12 February 1924, our concert is (almost) to the day a century on!

Travel and Landscape Photography Workshop – Orange, NSW

Featuring songs from 'Harvest, Neil Young', Blue Mountains singer / songwriter Phil Davidson makes no secret of the influence of Neil Young on his music. He learnt his first guitar chords from a Neil Young music book. The album was Harvest and the guitar was borrowed from his older brother.


Inside This Box Art Prize

The extremely popular Group Show INSIDE THIS BOX is back for another year and this time they've turned it into a prize. 

Thanks to Rowlee Wines in Orange, there will be two prizes up for grabs: the overall winner, selected by Gallery Director Madeline Young, will receive $1000 in cash sponsored by Rowlee Wines. There will also be a People’s Choice Award with voters choosing their favourite work.

Ten Minutes a Day – Orange Library

Ten Minutes a Day is an exciting program that you share with your child of 0-18 months. It is designed to enhance language development, develop pre-literacy skills, stimulate imagination, and make reading with your child a part of your everyday routine.

We use nursery rhymes, action songs, finger plays and stories in a fun and interactive way. We also share tips with parents on how to include these in their routines at home.

‘Eureka’ Official Mural Opening

Over the last four months, the Bathurst Community has enjoyed watching a HUGE wall in a nondescript alleyway in our CBD come to life. A beastly 40 by 8 metre wall, previously covered in the decay of an old common ivy and some tired signs, now awakened by the jaw-dropping talent of Bathurst’s own Calum Hotham.

Come along to the official opening and celebration of the mural.

To conclude the Summer Book Club an author talk has been scheduled on Zoom. 

Join author Shirley Le in conversation with Sarah Ayoub, freelance journalist, author, and board member of the Australian Society of Authors for a lively conversation about the book.  Participants will have the opportunity to ask Shirley Le questions via chat at the end of the event.
