Music of the Dunera boys: The Dunera Mass

Orange Regional Museum 151 Byng Street, Orange, NSW

Join Orange Regional Museum on Saturday 25 March at 4pm to experience the Dunera Mass in a special collaboration with the Orange Regional Conservatorium’s Symphonic Choir, performed amongst Orange Regional Museum’s exhibition Enemy Aliens: the Dunera boys in Orange, 1941.
This is an opportunity to hear this choral work performed perhaps for the first time since 1941. The Dunera Mass is one of a few newly re-discovered manuscripts composed by internee Max-Peter Meyer aboard the HMT Dunera and performed while detained in Hay, Orange and Tatura.

Kellie O’Dempsey: Bloom – Free Light and Sound Performance, Robertson Park

Bloom is a large-scale live work of light, colour and sound that contemplates the transformational act of unfolding flora. Shape shifting swathes of illuminated colour will metamorphosise and flow gently across the tree-scape of Robertson Park with drawn lines, bold shapes and electric hues unfolding to subterranean sonic tones as if emerging from deep underground.

Bathurst Chamber Orchestra – An Easter Concert

Come and hear how the passion of the Easter story inspired great composers! From the devout Lutheran, Johann Sebastian Bach, who composed a new cantata every week for one job, to the prolific Joseph Haydn, commissioned to compose the suitably solemn and dramatic “Seven Last Words of Christ”, and finally, to the Russian nationalist, Rimsky-Korsakov, who infused his Russian Easter Overture with populist Orthodox melodies of the time. A poignant spiritual and some glorious flute playing from Emma Knott will be heard as well - please join us.
