Sculpture Down the Lachlan

Orange 412: A history of our local fire brigade

Formed in 1869 after a terrible fire gutted the Nelson Bros warehouse on Byng Street, the Orange Volunteer Fire Brigade – today known as Orange 412 – has a long tradition of serving the community and saving lives.

Join us for a hands-on exploration of the fascinating history of our local fire brigade. This family-friendly exhibition includes kids’ dress-ups, playful storytelling, and an interactive fire truck, alongside stunning images and historical firefighting equipment.

Youth Hub Term 1 Activities

The Orange Youth Hub is open Tuesday to Thursday afternoons from 4pm to 6pm and Friday afternoons from 4pm to 7pm during term 1.

Young people aged 12 to 24 years are invited to drop in and join a range of activities.

In 1, 2 BOOKS! we read books, sing and play to encourage engagement with language and literacy. 1, 2 BOOKS! builds upon the skills introduced during the Ten Minutes a Day workshops, focusing on older babies, aged 1 and 2 years. We use nursery rhymes, action songs, finger plays and stories in a fun and interactive way. Sessions are lively and stimulating for both children and adults.

Storytime at Orange City Library is lots of fun. They read stories, sing songs, play games and make craft. They are held during the school term and cater for preschool children and their carers. Tuesday’s programme (book and craft) is repeated on Wednesday and Thursday.
