Mulaa Giilang: Wiradjuri stories of the night sky

Orange Regional Museum 151 Byng Street, Orange, NSW

For First Nations people, the Earth, sea and sky are intimately connected. Looking up, the night sky reflects Dreaming stories, landforms, animals and seasonal patterns, informing the way people live on, and care for, Country. This exhibition features stunning night sky photography and an immersive soundtrack to explore Wiradjuri astronomical knowledge alongside comparative mythologies from across the world.

Celebrating the importance of Country, featuring a group of First Nations and non-First Nations contemporary artists the works in this exhibition focus on a significant area within our region. Each artist has responded to place, Country and story, addressing cultural, environmental, historical and social values that make up the water cultures of the Goulburn River and The Drip Gorge.

Lithgow School Holidays Events

Lithgow Library & Learning Centre 157 Main Street, Lithgow, NSW

There will be a space theme throughout the holidays with space wreaths, painting a UFO, a space LEGO afternoon, space mobiles and alien stress heads. Just for something different in week two there will also be Halloween craft, and retro games including marbles, jacks, pick up sticks and hopscotch. Something to keep kids and parents of all ages occupied. In addition, regular preschool Storytime will be held at Lithgow Library.

September School Holiday Program at MWRC Library

Venture down the rabbit hole these school holidays at your local library. Make absurd hats, card soldiers, pencil birds and garden ornaments, design your own tea cup, go on a scavenger hunt, and even attend a mad hatters tea party! A small fee of $5 is charged for each activity to cover craft supplies. For ages 3-12.
