Chifely Home and Education Centre Re-opening

Chifley Home Busby St, Bathurst, NSW

Chifley Home has been closed since March 2020, and during this time Council has taken the opportunity to conduct conservation work and improvements to the facility.
New interpretative signage will tell the stories of Prime Minister and Locomotive Driver, Ben Chifley, and his wife Elizabeth.

The Year of Magical Thinking

Acacia Quartet & Lyle Chan: AIDS Memoir Quartet

Orange Regional Conservatorium 73A Hill Street, Orange, NSW

ORANGE REGIONAL CONSERVATORIUM, ORANGE. Lyle Chan's unique AIDS Memoir Quartet is a visceral musical portrait of the peak of the epidemic. Performed by the Acacia String Quartet and narrated by Chan himself, the 90-minute work is a tour-de-force of emotionally powerful music, containing portraits of famous activists now dead, and unusual effects like the use of police whistles to recall street demonstrations by ACT UP, the direct action protest group of which Chan was a core member.

Barbaroi

Out West Piano Fest

Over the 2022 October long weekend Bathurst will hum to a different sound. From Saturday 1 to Monday 3 October the sounds of piano will ring out over the landscape, with a program that is inspired by place, by culinary delights, by visual art, by collaborative passion for sharing the delight that music can achieve.

HILL END 150

Hill End Hill End, NSW

The historic and iconic Australian gold rush town of Hill End NSW was once home to a thriving community of over 8,000 people, today it is a charming heritage village with a population of around 100.
On 22 October 2022, the village celebrates the 150th anniversary of its golden past.

The Sentimental Bloke

Ian and pianist Aura Go perform Ian's new score live in the venue while the NFSA's 2019 digitally restored film is played, so that the film may be enjoyed in as close to its original from as possible.
