Blayney based Penny May has joined the Arts OutWest team as our new Lifelong Learning Project Officer.
Penny will fill the role that Zoe Rodwell has managed so wonderfully over the last 8 years. Zoe is sadly leaving us to do other exciting things, including focusing on her CSU teaching work.
Penny’s main focus at the moment will be our Artist Run Initiative project ‘Artshed’ which is well underway. More about Artshead here. Penny will also support other ongoing Arts OutWest projects.
Penny has worked in the arts for over 13 years lecturing at Art & Design-UNSW aka COFA, teaching in NSW High Schools, curating exhibitions and writing Art Education Kits. As Project Manager and Gallery Director on her latest project Blayney Arts Pop Up Gallery, an 8 week exhibition run by local artists, Penny brought together 31 artists exhibiting over an 8 week period, selling $5000 worth of artworks. Penny is passionate about creating art and making it accessible to all. Her intention is to develop opportunities for people to explore and discover their individual creativity and provide opportunities for regional audiences to access art and culture.
Penny is excited to be working with the Arts Out West team in an environment that is innovative, reflective and supports continual lifelong learning. Penny is also looking forward to working with an expansive range of artists (of all ages) collaborating, sharing ideas and assisting while continually supporting the wider arts community.
