There’s a new addition to the arts scene in the Central West

Orange is about to experience the newest player on the local arts scene with the launch of a new community theatre group called Pinnacle Players.

Pinnacle Players was formed several months ago with the aim of staging play in intimate and immersive settings.

ART, a comedy by award winning playwright Yasmina Reza, is directed by Peter Young and opens at the Peisley Street Gallery on July 19.  “This comedy chosen for the debut of Pinnacle Players is ideally suited to the setting of an art gallery,” said director Peter Young.

ART will be staged at Peisley Street Gallery, July 19 – 27.

“We are very excited about this collaboration with the Peisley Street Gallery, which will provide the perfect backdrop for this clever work.  ART premiered in Paris before moving to London’s West End and later Broadway,” said Mr Young.

The cast features local actors Alvaro Marques as Marc, Nick Tucknott as Serge and Mark Coster as Yvan.  Alvaro says he was drawn to the script as it was a play which hasn’t been performed in Orange before and he loved the character of Marc.  “This is an exciting opportunity to work with a new company and continue with my love of acting and performing,” he said.

At the heart of the story is the change in dynamics of the friendship between the three men after one of them pays an inordinate amount of money for a controversial artwork.  Anyone who has purchased a work of art, or been asked to give their opinion on a painting on a friend’s wall, will truly relate to this clever and entertaining script.
