THE ART OF OUR REGIONAL FUTURE – CALL OUT FOR PARTICIPANTS

Laura Baker_House

Blayney paper artist Laura Baker is inviting locals from across regional NSW to send photos of their homes for a collaborative art project. Laura is commissioned by Arts OutWest to represent Central West NSW in the Regional Futures program.

Selected submissions will be turned into paper cut drawings and displayed as a long street in response to the prompt What does the future look like for your region?

Laura hopes the project “will be an ode to the regional community; a body of work celebrating the unique landscape of our streets as we trace their architectural evolution through the past and towards the future. But it is also about the stories of the residents inside each home, and what community means to them.”

The project is part of Regional Futures, a state-wide program of creative development and conversations funded by Create NSW, placing artists at the centre of a dialogue exploring a future vision for the place where they live and create.

Laura Baker, along with Kris Schubert (O’Connell) have been commissioned by Arts OutWest to represent Central West NSW in the program. In total, 29 artists from across regional NSW have been announced as participants.

Regional Futures will culminate with the showcasing in Sydney of new works developed as part of
the project.
