Live & Kicking shows have been continuing to grow audiences for original live music in April. Here’s the wrap from two shows that happened over one weekend in Orange.
Genni Kane delighted a packed room at The Agrestic Grocer for her very special Live and Kicking Meet the Songwriter session on Friday 29th April.
The audience was treated to a journey through her catalogue including Flying Emus favourite “Darling Street” , to her dalliances with B1 & B2 through to her solo albums of selfies.
Laughter was had, a tear or two shed as Genni poured out her heart and soul to a very appreciative audience gathered around the tables. Genni’s songs were filled out with some wonderful sound textures supplied superbly by her husband Jon Wilby. Stay tuned for announcements about this show coming to some other venues in the Central West.
Brad White served up some deep grooves from his two EPs “Deja Vu & Might Delete Later” at The Blind Pig Sound Lounge & Cocktail Bar on Sunday 1 May. On a Sunny Sunday afternoon many locals and visitors from Grenfell, Newcastle, Townsville and Finland all had a splendid time savouring some local original music at this Live & Kicking session.. The audience dug the beats that Brad built up as he played his guitar and sang his funky melodic tunes, he even threw in some trumpet showing his versatility as a musician and arranger. Each song that Brad rolled out drew the audience further and further into his vibe, so much so that an audience participation reprise of the chorus of his last song busted out acapella style around the room. The community spirit of the musicians gathered in the room led to some great improvised jams after the show into the evening, much to the delight of those who had come to experience some live music.
Live Kicking Shows are coming up including Eraser an exciting Electronic duo at The Blind Pig on Sunday 15th May at the earlier time of 3pm and Meet the Songwriter featuring Clancy Pye at The Agrestic Grocer Friday 27th May.
