In CASP funded projects this year participants across Kandos, Bathurst and beyond have knitted a large flock of 70 + galahs and a myriad of colourful flower hub-caps.

These pieces will be woven into the set design for the stage show of FAST CARS – premiering in March, 2023.

Project creator Kate Smith said:

“Thanks to all those who have contributed to the FAST CARS yarning project. The show is an hilarious musical about the beating heart of Bathurst – Wahluu/Mt. Panorama.

These colourful creations were crocheted by teacher librarian at Raglan P.S – Nic Wade.
Nic has participated in all of the events as part of the long term FAST CARS & DIRTY BEATS community project. Learning new skills at Masterclasses in lantern-making with Ikara Events at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery; facilitating a lantern-making day with the whole school at Raglan P.S which saw students, parent helpers and teachers create over 200 lanterns featuring designs inspired by the bird life at Wahluu/Mt Panorama.
We are still gathering all over the wonderful contributions so if you have completed knitting galahs or crocheting hubcaps please drop them to BMEC Bathurst Box Office.
