Second central west choral festival
Sun 22 September, Blayney: Choirs from across the region will raise their voices together at the second Central West Choral Festival.
Held from 2pm Sunday September 22 at Blayney Community Centre the now annual event is organised by Arts OutWest as a friendly, non-competitive way for choirs to share their love of singing.
The choirs involved are Cauesura (Orange), Seymour Centre Choir (Bathurst), Panorama Chorus (Bathurst), Allegri Singers (Bathurst), Come Together (Orange), Eclectica (Bathurst), Orange Conservatorium Chamber Choir (Orange) and a combined choir (including singers from choirs in Bathurst and Orange plus Forbes, Cowra and Parkes).
The music performed will include classical, popular and world music. Each choir will share a few of their favourite songs before all the singers crowd onto the stage for a big combined number.
Arts OutWest’s executive director Tracey Callinan herself conducts the Eclectica choir, and relishes the opportunity to both share and hear a variety of choral work in one place.
“Choirs have recently experienced a renaissance as people come to realise how enjoyable and good for you singing in a group can be,” Ms Callinan said. “The Central West Choral Festival celebrates choirs and is also a wonderful cultural tourism initiative as visitors travel to enjoy the music.”
Beth Pratley from Bathurst’s Panorama Chorus said the choir was also looking forward to the festival:
“We’ve loved being part of every Bathurst Sings and Central West Choral Festival since they began. We’re looking forward to singing with old and new friends in Blayney and seeing and hearing what everyone has been working on this year.”
The 2nd Central West Choral Festival is a public event. Admission is by donation at the door. Panorama Chorus are putting on a lunch before the concert with meals from $5 (menus and order forms available from Arts OutWest 6338 4657).
