This week the year 7s and Year 8s at Portland Central School were totally engaged making bangles with raffia whilst yarning away with each other and Ronda Sharpe, Wiradjuri environmental artist.
Ronda is currently the Artist in Residence at The Squatter’s Cottage, The Foundations, Portland. Next week Ronda will be back to Portland Central School to help the students to make baskets with raffia.
Ronda’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Regional Arts NSW through a Quick Response Grant. This grant supports these workshops whilst also supporting Ronda being mentored by Harrie Fasher as part of Ronda’s Artist in Residence program, Reimagining the Coolamon. Ronda has been welding up a storm in Harrie Fasher’s Portland Foundry with Aleshia Lonsdale visiting too.
