Oz Premiere of While the Men are Away


Sunday 24 September. To celebrate the upcoming release of Orange-set WW2 drama series While The Men Are Away, See Saw Wines, Orange Open Air and Arcadia are bringing the Australian premiere of the series home to Orange for a night of entertainment under the stars.

Gates open at 6pm. Arancia will be selling their delicious wood fire pizza and See Saw wines available to purchase from the bar. Please BYO chairs and rugs. Strictly No BYO of other food and drink.

The series is created and produced by local Orange production company Arcadia, and shot on Wiradjuri country across Orange, Millthorpe, and Carcoar, including the beautiful heritage estate of “Ammerdown”, the iconic main street of Millthorpe and the idyllic “Rose Orchard”.

To thank the community for their contributions to the series, on screen and behind the scenes, the premiere is free of charge and open to all above the age of 15.

The screening will commence at 7pm with a short introduction by the creator Alexandra Burke, director Elissa Down (The Black Balloon), head writer and co-creator Kim Wilson (The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, Deadloch), and producer Lisa Shaunessy.

3 episodes (26 minutes each) of the series will be shown, in a special sneak preview before it goes to air on SBS September 27.

The evening’s festivities will end at 8:30pm.


About the series:

After her husband is sent to war, Frankie is left to run their apple farm, enlisting help from various parties including new recruits of the Women’s Land Army.

Starring Michela De Rossi (The Many Saints of Newark), Benedict Hardie (The Invisible Man), Gemma Ward (The Black Balloon), Tara Morice (Strictly Ballroom), Sacha Horler (The Dressmaker) and Australia’s rising stars Max McKenna, Phoebe Grainer, Jana Zvedeniuk, Matt Testro and Shaka Cook.
