Bathurst Chamber Orchestra – An Easter Concert
Bathurst Uniting Church Hall 140A William Street, Bathurst, NSW, AustraliaCome and hear how the passion of the Easter story inspired great composers! From the devout Lutheran, Johann Sebastian Bach, who composed a new cantata every week for one job, to the prolific Joseph Haydn, commissioned to compose the suitably solemn and dramatic “Seven Last Words of Christ”, and finally, to the Russian nationalist, Rimsky-Korsakov, who infused his Russian Easter Overture with populist Orthodox melodies of the time. A poignant spiritual and some glorious flute playing from Emma Knott will be heard as well - please join us.
