2024 Banjo Paterson Writing Awards

This year marks 160 years since Andrew Barton ‘Banjo’ Paterson was born at Narrambla, Orange, and Central West Libraries announces the call for entries in the 2024 Banjo Paterson Writing Awards on his birthday, Saturday 17 February.

Established in 1991, the awards honour Banjo, acknowledged as a great writer and favourite son of Orange, with a competition encouraging Australian content. However, entries do not have to be written in Banjo’s style of bush writing.

Make/Do – Teen Meet-Up – Orange City Library

Gather in the library after school to decompress and relax.

Make/Do is a safe space for you to catch up with friends, chat about books, listen to music and hang out.

Each week you will have the opportunity to try a new activity, but if you prefer to sit and read, you can!

A Step Towards Freedom – Book Launch

At the tender age of three, Gabrielle Dickson’s carefree, fun-filled childhood took a dark turn. One that would lead her into a lifetime of betrayal, shame and humiliation.

This is a story of courage, of becoming unstuck and learning that everyone is flawed in some way, but that self-healing is the only way forward. And to move forward, Gabrielle had to face her past.
