May 20-26. The Orange Regional Conservatorium (ORC) is proud to be welcoming Leanne Sullivan as artist in residence for a week of lessons, classes, workshops and performances.
Media release 12 May 2021
Leanne is one of the nation’s most accomplished trumpeters, having played in Australia’s leading orchestras and is currently teaching at the Sydney Conservatorium of music. The residency will offer a rare opportunity for regional brass musicians to learn from one of the trumpet greats.
The Orange Regional Conservatorium’s Artist in Residence program has been developed in recent years through the support of national music organisation Musica Viva Australia and the Godfrey Turner Memorial Music trust, a valued and significant contributor to many ORC programs. The support of these groups means we can offer these opportunities completely free of change to students.
The Residency Program began in 2019 with concert pianist, Aura Go, who over several weeks in Orange developed close connections with the local music community. 2020 saw the program shift to a virtual format, with Aura and fellow pianist Tomoe Kawabata unable to leave Melbourne. So, they presented a series on video lesson and masterclasses to Orange Students to great success.
In 2021 we are honoured to welcome Leanne to Orange, who will be working alongside our existing programs by visiting local schools, attending bands and groups, giving lessons and working with community groups such as the City of Orange Brass Band and the ORC’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
All activities during Leanne Sullivan’s time at the ORC are FREE of charge and open to all trumpeters and brass musicians of Orange to take part in. More information and registration details are available at www.orangecon.org.au
