Orange Region Fire festival

Call for content. Orange 360 are excited about the future of the Fire Festival call upon ARTS content for the August event.

This years event will take place from Friday 2 August – Sunday 11 August, with the Millthorpe Fire Faire kicking off the festivities on Friday 2 August.

To assist with the development and direction of the festival, Orange360 has established a Fire Festival Steering Committee made up of members of the community who are involved in the Arts and have strong connections with established and upcoming talent in the Central West. Our aim is to establish a vision for the festival and develop a strong concept and personality for the event that will allow us to confidently and successfully apply for substantial grant funding in future to support a signature event/installation, whilst maintaining and building a strong program of member events.

The Arts complements our region’s strengths of food and wine and wonderful venues and we see this as an opportunity to use the Arts as a way of showcasing your existing business offering and gaining a new audience.

As a step towards this vision, for the 2024 festival we have developed the following event criteria to help us curate a program that sets the foundations for a regional Arts Festival in the Orange region.

Festival Criteria

Events must include an artistic element, i.e:

  • Performance, such as music, theatre, dance
  • Creative exhibition / display / installation
  • Folk tales and story telling
  • Workshops such as ceramics and glazes / photography / glass blowing / murals / scultpure

Theme and festival vibe

  • Celebrations of fire and light.
  • Mystical, starry, magical, intriguing, fun (not circus)
  • Winter, clear skies, crisp and cold (not snow or ice)
  • Warming; in the literal sense, heart warming
