This list is drawn from the venues in our What’s On regional calendar of events.
The most frequent requests for venue advice we get are for performance venues, so this is the focus of this list (galleries, museums and the like are already listed on our Culture Maps Central NSW). We have included a section for workshop and meeting spaces and one of ‘interesting places to hold an event’. We’ve focused on places that have been used in the past for some form of arts and cultural activity – this isn’t every kind of venue there is in the region (look elsewhere for wedding venues etc).
Touring to the region? Local tourism offices are also a great resource for accommodation and local details. For music venues you can also use the excellent MusicNSW Regional Touring Network: https://rtn.musicnsw.com/

Our region
The Arts OutWest region (Central West NSW) covers the local government areas of Bathurst Region, Blayney (Blayney, Millthorpe etc), Cabonne (Canowindra, Eugowra, Manildra, Yeoval etc), Cowra, Forbes, Lachlan (Condobolin, Lake Cargelligo etc), Lithgow, Mid-Western Region (Mudgee, Gulgong, Kandos, Rylstone etc), Oberon, Orange, Parkes (Parkes, Peak Hill, Trundle etc) and Weddin (Grenfell).
ways to use the info
- Venues are nominally listed by type and then local government area, but of course there is much overlap. You know your event. Scan for places that might suit your needs.
- Click on the links to see brief venue details and contact details (where we’ve had the chance to add them – this is a work in progress) and any upcoming events listed on What’s On for that venue. (List your events here).
- Give them a call! Talk to venues or venue managers directly about your queries.
- Use our extensive Culture Maps Central NSW website of interactive maps to check out all GALLERIES and artist studios, MUSEUMS and heritage places, retail outlets to shop for HANDMADE, ABORIGINAL places and experiences and PUBLIC ART (buttons below)
- Or simply scan through the What’s On to see what kinds of events are currently being held to gage which venues might suit you.
