Omega Ensemble warmed hearts and venues across NSW Central West

The supremely talented Omega Ensemble left rapturous applause and new fans in their wake during their Winter Regional Tour across the Central West of NSW last month, presented by Music in the Regions and local partners.

From Forbes, Parkes and Canowindra (where we were joined by special guests including NSW Minister for the Arts The Hon. Ben Franklin MLC), to Kandos, Portland and Oberon, Omega Ensemble braved chilly temperatures, and even a flurry of snow in Orange, to deliver superb performances to enthusiastic audiences in some of the State’s most marvellous venues.

Omega Ensemble performed their high-energy program in unique venues such as the heritage Malachi Gilmore Hall in Oberon, historical former cement works The Foundations in Portland, and the delightful and eclectic Kandos Museum.

Students from Orange Regional Conservatorium and Mitchell Conservatorium in Bathurst, were treated to masterclasses and breakout rehearsals.

Omega Ensemble Artistic Director and clarinettist, David Rowden, said the group loved performing in NSW’s Central West on their Winter Regional Tour.

“NSW’s Central West is home to some really unique performance venues. There is such a strong sense of community in these places, and a lot of love has gone into making them truly special community hubs. We are grateful to all of these venues for having us on this tour and for the audiences who made us feel at home and shared their stories with us,” David said.

“Collaborating with Music in the Regions on this tour helped bring it to life. The many connections and performance memories we made on this tour make what we do so rewarding, and for this we have Music in the Regions to thank.”

Music in the Regions Executive Director, Janine Collins, said: “When surveying the audience after performances, we discovered almost half of audience members had never been to a classical music concert in their region before and all audience members confirmed they would like to experience more. It’s great to know we have audiences who are keen to attend a Music in the Regions concert in the future, and hopefully bring others to share these special experiences.”

“With each new successful regional tour, we remain committed to our mission of providing high quality classical music to  audiences across the State and look forward to our next tour on the South Coast of NSW in September.”

Music in the Regions would like to thank David Rowden and Omega Ensemble, our audiences, supporters and tour partners including Forbes Shire Council, Parkes Shire Council, Mitchell Conservatorium, Canowindra Fine Music, Orange Regional Conservatorium, Kandos Museum, The Foundations Portland, and Malachi Gilmore Hall.
