In September Steven Cavanagh our arts & health officer switched up the exhibitions at two of the region’s hospitals, bringing a fresh feel to each with local art. There were three exhibitions in all, a brand new one and two that swapped locations.
Steven started in Forbes, working with Pamela Thompson from Forbes Arts Society (FAS). They framed and installed the FAS ‘Works On Paper’ show at the hospital.
He then headed to Parkes Hospital to install new work from the kids at Forbes Public School (which had been at Forbes Hospital).
Back to then Forbes with more artwork for the Maternity Unit (astrophotography on loan from Parkes CSIRO telescope) which had been at Parkes Hospital.
Next week he’ll head to Trundle MPS to install an exhibition of work by residents at Oberon MPS.

Steven also squeezed in a lightning trip to Dubbo Hospital to meet with the Oncology Department and discuss a new project.
Arts OutWest has an MOU with WNSWLHD. We create and deliver arts programs in health settings across our region.
Steven Cavanagh has taken over the arts & health role at Arts OutWest with the retirement of Christine McMillan who did the job for 15 years.
