MusicNSW has released a new report on strengthening regional and remote music communities – the outcome of the NSW Roundtable held on 23 July as part of the 2025 Regional & Remove Music Summit.
The report sets a map for action for government, industry and communities across NSW and gathers insights from 80+ representatives from across the music sector who provided insights into opportunities and challenges across First Nations development, artist development, audience development, industry development and regional development.
Key priorities identified from these rich conversations include the need for safe and affordable spaces, mentorship pathways and long-term funding, as well as a strong call for collaboration through a ‘Do-It-Together’ (DIT) approach and recognition and support for grassroots organisers as essential contributors to local music ecosystems.
Thank you to everyone that participated in the roundtable discussions. The report will directly inform the ongoing work of MusicNSW as the state’s peak body for contemporary music, as well as being a valuable resource for the sector at large.
