Friday 26 August 7pm at the Malachi Gilmore Hall in Oberon. Double act as Oberon’s Chloe Swannell joins Smith & Jones for night of music at the Malachi.

Oberon local Chloe Swannell will perform a set of her own original songs before popular Bathurst duo Smith & Jones take to the stage on Friday 26 August 7pm at the Malachi Gilmore Hall in Oberon.

Smith & Jones are a duo that was forged from a friendship that developed at a record store in Bathurst. Eight years and two albums later Abby Smith (piano) & Sophie Jones (guitar) are accomplished musicians who combine strong voices and beautiful original tunes, playing an undefinable mix of original country and folk.

Opening the night will be country music artist and Oberon local Chloe Swannell.

“If you’ve enjoyed one of the many live performances Chloe has given in her hometown or around the Central West, you’ll be in for a treat here,” said Arts OutWest’s Patrick Coomey. “Performing a set of her own original songs, this will be pure Chloe. An organic sound of just voice accompanied by wood and strings.”

Smith & Jones have toured extensively and most recently have provided support to Katie Noonan, Sam Buckingham, The Hussy Hicks and Amy Vee. They have appeared at many festivals including Tamworth as well as Inland Sea of Sound. They have also worked as educators, community choir leaders, mentors to young artists & conducted workshops within the disability sector. They’ve even expanded their creative outlets as composers and performers in theatre and as part of visual art installations. Currently recording their third album, you’re sure to get a chance to listen to some of their new tunes, including their current single Highrise.

“Arts OutWest is delighted to present another special concert in conjunction with The Malachi featuring the original music of Central West artists,” Mr Coomey said.

Arts OutWest’s Live & Kicking gigs are supported by the Australian Governments Live Music Australia as a showcase for original live music in the Central West.

Tickets $10 from the Malachi Gilmore Hall website.
