Live & Kicking: Luke ‘Jaffer’ Ferguson

Sunday 20 March, 4pm. The Bling Pig Orange. FREE event.  Luke Ferguson aka Jaffer has a musical genealogy that runs deep throughout the Orange music community.

He played in many bands over the years as wells as the Orange Theatre Company. Music flows through him. His giant hands create a funky fluidity on the bass that can get anyone into a groove whilst his vocals can go from a whisper to a roar like you’re taking a journey on a soul train.

With all this talent he had moved to Byron Bay where his natural talent made him an artist that audience sat up and took notice of especially when in 2016 he formed Fergo & The Burden, who toured nationally and appeared at major festivals including Blues Fest, Woodford folk festival, Splendour in the Grass and the Tamworth Country Music Festival. They released a 5 track EP, which won them several awards, including Best Male Vocal at North Coast Entertainment Industry Association NCEIA in 2019.They since changed their name to Jaffer.

When Covid hit in 2020 Jaffer returned to his family in Orange. The local music  community has benefited from having this talented artist among us and sharing his abilities via live streaming during lockdowns.. He has started to play more live shows as restrictions ease. He has also been busy recording his original music with a new album about to be released.

Whatever you do come and experience Jaffer here in his hometown of Orange  at The Blind Pig Cocktail Bar & Sound Lounge for a very Funky Soulful Sunday Afternoon session of Original Live Music. You won’t be able to live stream or download it, you’ve gotta be there to experience it.

Arts OutWest is pleased to present in conjunction with The Blind Pig a series of Live & Kicking shows featuring the Original music of artists from The Central West. Live & Kicking gigs are supported by the Australian Governments Live Music Australia.
