Andy Baylor_postponed

Due to the current Covid situation, Andy has cancelled all his gigs for January. We will try to reschedule Andy’s Live & Kicking gig at another time in 2022. We thank everyone for their patience in these interesting times.

CANCELLED: Sunday 23 January, 3-5pm, The Victoria, Bathurst.

Andy Baylor is one of Australia’s most versatile working musicians. He has drawn on America’s great 20th century legacy of popular music and his own Australian roots to create an individual voice.

Arts OutWest is pleased to present in conjunction with Little Alberts at The Victoria Hotel Bathurst a series of Sunday Sessions featuring the Original music of artists from The Central West.

The Melbourne-born roots writer and multi-instrumentalist has, musically, seen and done more than most. He has been acclaimed as “Melbourne’s King of Roots”. “Melbourne is a treasure-trove of fine music and marvellous musical practitioners. One of the most gifted is Andy Baylor. He is a master of space and time,” Ken Williams, The Age. These are but two of the accolades out there about Andy’s music.

As a guitarist, Andy combines a deep knowledge of blues, jazz, folk and country music. After spending his formative years in well-loved Melbourne inner-urban bands such as the Blue Rockets, The Honeydrippers and the Auto Drifters, he went on to cut his teeth playing with  visiting USA masters. Including Jimmy Witherspoon (legendary blues shouter), Big JayMcNeely (R’n’B saxophone pioneer), Jimmy McGriff (funky hammond organ virtuoso), Flaco Jimenez (tex-mex accordion king), Coco Robicheaux (contemporary singer/songwriter from New Orleans), Louisiana Red (Bluesman), Screamin Jay Hawkins (voodoo blues king) among many more.

He has released 18 albums since 1992 he recently contributed the delightful “Pictures in The Clouds” to the Arts OutWest album “While The World Waits” as he is now based in Cowra.  He is in demand for live appearances in Sydney and Melbourne selling out large venues.

A unique opportunity to see a treasure of the Australian Roots music community, Live and Kicking in the intimate setting of Little Alberts. You won’t be able to live stream or download it, you’ve gotta be there to experience it.

Live & Kicking is supported by the Australian Government’s Live Music Australia.
