Sunday 27 November, 2-5pm, Club Millthorpe. For nearly 15 years, from May to October, acoustic sunday offered a monthly afternoon of high quality acoustic music across a range of genres in the small heritage village of Millthorpe in Central West NSW.
Loved by audiences and performers alike, acoustic sunday created a respectful listening space to share music from the heart. A unique opportunity to get up close and personal with the people who create the music and to hear the stories that inspired their work.
It is with huge joy that we announce that we will be holding a one-off, acoustic sunday special event on Sunday November 27, 2022 at Club Millthorpe. We are delighted to have the financial support of the Arts Outwest Live & Kicking program, and the Australian Government’s Live Music Australia.
This special event will bring together three of the Central West’s finest songwriters and musicians for a sublime afternoon of music.
Depth of heart and sweetness of soul are two things that flow freely through the music of SARAH HUMPHREYS. From delicate folk music to personal reveries, vibrant collaborations and rousing alt-country songs, Sarah has the ability to infuse it all with her innate sensitivity and an artisanal touch in the craft of songwriting.
“From the first time I heard Sarah Humphreys’ beautiful voice I became her biggest fan. She writes songs from the heart that are real and captivating – just like the person she is.” – Kasey Chambers
With a blend of acoustic folk, Americana, and bluegrass, and their beautiful union of dobro, guitar and harmony vocals, MONTGOMERY CHURCH are breaking ground in the contemporary folk-country music scene. Their lyrical storytelling and sublime harmonies will touch your heart.
“Montgomery Church are like the Australian version of Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings. The most graceful duo literally gracing stages right now.” – Fanny Lumsden
GENNI KANE has been writing songs and performing them for over 40 years. She first found her feet as a songwriter with the legendary ARIA and multiple Golden Guitar winning 80’s band, Flying Emus. Now in her 60s, Genni has a voice that will make you stop and listen as she welcomes you into the heart of her songs about everyday life and love.
“Kane has crafted these everyday events into songs of great simplicity and unswerving honesty, and set them in a country/folk context. Intimate and deeply personal. The end result has the vocal beauty of Emmylou Harris and the sharp clarity of Loudon Wainwright III.” – Bruce Elder (SMH)
