This powerful and thought-provoking play will serve as the anchor event for the official commemorations of the Cowra POW Breakout’s 80th Anniversary in 2024.
When given the news, Lusi Austin expressed her gratitude to Cowra Shire Council for their generous contribution.
“I am extremely grateful to Council for their donation to this significant historical production,” said Lusi.

“By supporting projects like ‘Intertwined,’ Cowra Shire Council demonstrates its commitment to fostering cultural enrichment and historical awareness within the community,” Mrs Austin said.
“I am deeply honoured to receive this support from the Cowra Shire Council. ‘Intertwined’ is a labour of love that aims to bridge gaps, build connections, and encourage meaningful dialogue. With
the Council’s support, we can bring this important story to life for our community and visitors alike.”

Cowra Shire Council Mayor Bill West echoed Mrs Austin sentiments. “Cowra Shire Council is happy to support local artist Lusi Austin and her 12-act play, ‘Intertwined.’ The Council has granted a donation of $4,700 to assist in bringing this unique production to life at the Cowra Civic Centre,” said Cowra Mayor Bill West. “This significant work will be a great lead in from July 22 to July 29, 2024 to what promises to be a momentous 80th Breakout Anniversary in August 2024,” said Cr. West.

“On behalf of Council I’d like to congratulate Lusi on this wonderful concept and all the hard work that she has dedicated to the production to make it a reality.” The Cowra community is encouraged to mark their calendars for this captivating theatrical experience that promises to provoke thought, inspire conversation, and commemorate a significant moment in history.
