In August, Arts OutWest’s Arts & Health coordinator Steven Cavanagh ran a workshop with Glenroi Heights Public School to create artist works that will be translated into decals for the new Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub in Orange.
Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) is establishing Medicare Mental Health Kids Hub at 60-62 McNamara Street in Orange, NSW. The hub will provide a hub for mental health wellbeing support to children up to the age of 12 and their families. WNSWLHD approached Arts OutWest to manage a collaborative visual arts project.
Arts OutWest has worked with local artists and schools, in consultation with Aboriginal Elders, to develop a unified artistic concept using Robertson Park as a theme and prompt.
The aim of the project is to create a culturally appropriate, welcoming and safe environment for young people up to the age of 12. Creating window decals and a mural artwork that generate a sense of hope and change.
These guided workshops with the Glenroi Heights Public Primary School children will create imagery for use on glass door decals, designed to provide a sense of privacy.
