Youth Week Orange

Youth Week 2023 in Orange will take place from 20 to 30 April 2023 and the theme this year is: Connect. Participate. Celebrate is the theme for Youth Week 2023 with plenty of activities for local young people to enjoy.

To mark Youth Homelessness Day, a Skate Park Jam will take place at John Lomas Skate Park in Orange on 19 April. The event, which is open to all ages, will run from 12pm to 3pm and is free. Participants can enjoy a barbecue while browsing information stalls that will feature organisations like Veritas House, who will provide insights into youth homelessness.

A ‘Fun Day‘ is scheduled to take place at the Orange Showground on 20 April. This outdoor event is free and open to all ages and will run from 10am to 2pm. Activities include a BBQ, a live DJ, a rock-climbing wall, inflatable games, a makeup workshop, and 25 information booths catered towards youth.

Youth Concert, in collaboration with Headspace, is scheduled for 21 April at the CWA Hall in Robertson Park. The event will take place from 5pm to 9pm and will feature a line-up of bands. The concert will kick off 4.430pm with Sporadic Bin Rats, a support band that was specifically requested by the Youth Action Council. Following them, at 5pm, a support band provided by Scarr Entertainment will perform for an hour. The feature band, Hollow Point, a youth band of 5 siblings from the Central Coast, will take the stage at 6pm.

Join the Conversation event is set to take place on 22 April, between Pilcher Park and Elephant Park. This event, as part of an international mental health campaign It’s ok not to be ok and will include an opening of the Blue Tree and bench.

Wellness Colour Run will also be held to highlight both the importance of physical activity and also be a conversation-starter that would encourage people to speak up when battling mental health concerns. This event is being organized in collaboration with Orange City Council, Orange Suicide Prevention Network and Orange United Sports Club. The event will begin at the Blue Tree and bench at 2pm. Following this, from 3pm to 5pm, the Colour Run will take place, and participants can register on the day of the event.

A workshop around sexual consent, organised by Consent Labs, a not-for-profit organisation that aims to address the gap of sexual consent through education, will be held on 27 April at both Orange High School and Canobolas Rural technology High School for their Year 11 and 12 students.
