Waste 2 Art Free Community Workshop at the Elf – Orange
Sat 15 April at 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Orange City Library is hosting a free community workshop to help you get started making your own Waste 2 Art entry for the exhibition in June. There will be 3 stations with new skills to learn, materials to share and ideas to be gleaned.
Making yarn from scrap fabric
This process involves hand twisting strips of fabric. The resulting twine could be used in a variety of ways in your Waste 2 Art project. Bring a spare spool if you have one.
Women’s Shed
The Women’s Shed will be teaching weaving basics. You can learn how to build your own loom and practise weaving.
Men’s Shed
Restore a timber chair. You can learn how to take a chair apart, repair and reconstruct. Tips and tricks for sanding the timber and painting, staining, or lacquering. The resident upholsterer from the Shed will show you how to upholster a chair. Bring along your own work in progress for some personalised advice.
This workshop is suitable for adults and young people over 12 years of age.
