TRAVELLING FILM FESTIVAL IS RETURNING TO ORANGE

WITH NINE EXCEPTIONAL FILMS FROM AROUND THE WORLD!

Travelling Film Festival returns to Orange Odeon 5 Cinemas from 2-4 September; bringing a specially curated program of
the most loved and riveting Australian and international features from around the world.
“We are excited to return to Orange this September and give audiences a fresh and exciting program to be enjoyed on
the big screen. A total of nine feature films and three Australian short films will be screened in this year’s program, filled
with fascinating and mind-blowing storytelling from Australia, Ireland, South Korea, Palestine and so much more!” said
Sanam Rodrigues, Travelling Film Festival Manager.
Opening the festival is BLAZE, directed by the acclaimed Australian artist Del Kathryn Barton, starring Simon Baker, Yael
Stone and Julia Savage; it’s a bold hybrid of live action, puppetry and animation, an ode to female courage and a
celebration of the power of the imagination.

Highlights of the program include BROKER, starring the winner of Cannes Best Actor Song Kang-ho (PARASITE, 2019), is
a delightful, tender Korean drama by Kore-eda Hirokazu (THE SHOPLIFTERS, 2018); Cannes Film Festival 2021 Grand Prix
winner, COMPARTMENT NO. 6, is an unconventional love story between two strangers who share a Russian train
journey through the Arctic Circle; and Ireland’s first ever Gaelic language film to compete at Berlin, THE QUIET GIRL, by
Colm Bairéad, a beautiful family drama portraying the loneliness of an innocent child oblivious to the adult world
around her.

Powerful storytelling not to miss in this year’s program include Sydney Film Festival 2022 Opening Night Film, WE ARE
STILL HERE, through eight heroic protagonists, the film traverses 1000 years exploring stories of kinship, loss, grief and
resilience; HUDA’S SALON, directed by two-time international Oscar nominee Hany Abu-Assad (OMAR, 2014), is a
gripping drama based on real events and follows an innocent Palestinian woman who becomes trapped in a web of
blackmail and deceit;

Uplifting and lighthearted films in this year program includes BEAUTIFUL MINDS, a dour funeral director and
philosophical delivery man make an oddball duo as they embark on an unconventional road trip in this captivating
French comedy; FLUX GOURMET is a deliciously deadpan comedy by outré cinema master Peter Strickland; and
CALENDAR GIRLS, an uplifting, joyous documentary featuring a female dance troupe with a difference: they’re 60+ and
out to prove that age is just a number.

The festival is proud to present three Australian short films from this year’s Sydney Film Festival, including Steve
Anthopoulos’ VOICE ACTIVATED, supported by the Screenability Initiative, which showcases provocative cinema by
filmmakers with disability; nominated for the Dendy Awards for Australia Short Films, POLENTA by Adrian Di Salle; and
STONEFISH, a thrilling black comedy from Australian director Megan Smart.
