The Phoenix Choir

Sun 20 August at 3:00 pm

Phoenix Choir presents a concert of English music … in English!

So much of the classical canon is in Latin, or perhaps German, so it’s a wonderful change to sing in our own vernacular.

From Purcell’s bucolic early-baroque Welcome to all the pleasures to the luscious harmonies of Parry’s Blest Pair of Sirens the program is a celebration of voice and verse in praise of St Cecelia, the patron saint of music.

Musical director Amy Moore will challenge the choir with Britten’s edgy cantata Rejoice in the Lamb and also give an opportunity for our Chamber Choir to sing a capella.
