The Celebration of Swing (bmec.com.au)
Nostalgic, unforgettable music from the most famous big bands of the 1940s featuring James Morrison AM on trumpet.
The Celebration of Swing will be a Big Band Blast! A concert spectacular honouring the famous American Big Band leaders and their Orchestras from the 1940s, the golden era of swing.
The concert’s Musical Director, John Morrison, is recognised as one of Australia’s leading jazz drummers, band leaders and educators.
For one night only, this concert will feature John’s Swing City Big Band: fifteen musicians and singers, plus showcase two esteemed singers, Gregg Arthur and Jackie Cooper, some of Sydney’s top instrumental jazz soloists, and special guest James Morrison AM.
The concert’s music repertoire will highlight the greatest Big Band hits of the 1940s, featuring the music of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Benny Goodman and more.
This music is still recognised after 85 years…timeless icons of our culture.
