Summer Heat Detective Workshop 2
Fri 3 February at 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Do you want to become a Heat Detective and have a unique hands-on experience? If your answer is YES, join us for our second workshop!
Radiated heat from hot surfaces and objects leads to greater cooling needs and higher electricity usage in summer which accelerates climate change.
As Heat Detective, you will be equipped with a thermal camera to find the hottest outdoor surface or object in Lithgow. You will have 3 weeks to find the hottest culprit and go into the competition to win $250 in our +18 years competition, and $100 for U18 yrs competition.
Your images will be submitted for selection into an art exhibition at the Lithgow Transformation Hub in early 2023. It may only take 3 minutes a day to capture the hottest image. Winners will be selected via online voting for ‘People’s Choice’.
During a 1hr workshop at the Lithgow Transformation Hub, a researcher from Western Sydney University will demonstrate how to capture images using FLIR cameras to see the impact of heat on our urban environment, and how this impacts heating and cooling costs in our homes.
Will you be that Heat Detective who discovers the hottest culprit and wins the prize?
