Started Out Just Drinking Beer – The Mental As Anything Story by Stuart Lloyd

Join us for an entertaining yarn with a real raconteur of the classic Aussie band Mental As Anything – drummer Dave ‘Bird’ Twohill – and local author and the band’s biographer Stuart Lloyd.
The pair are meeting up for a lively and amusing chat with photos at Orange City Library to launch Started Out Just Drinking Beer – The Mental As Anything Story by local author Stuart Lloyd. These two will take you on the rollercoaster ride of one our most successful bands from 1976 to 2019.
Enjoy the untold stories behind Aussie classics like: Live It Up, Too Many Times, If You Leave Me Can I Come Too? Berserk Warrior, Egypt, The Nips Are Getting Bigger, and a whole lot more.
Plus tales from the road as told by Greedy, Martin, Bird, Pet & Reg – and a star-studded cast including Colin Hay, Richard Gottehrer, Mark Opitz, Ross Wilson and Wreckless Eric – in this access-all-areas official biography.
The book is a superbly researched and written account of one of Australia’s most popular bands, with unfettered access to all the key players, and a de facto social history of a time when living in Sydney was cheap and fun. The event will be supported by Collins Booksellers, Orange and both Dave and Stuart will be available for signings.
