Southern Sky Astrophotgraphy

Wed 20 December 2023, - Sun 4 February 2024,

This exhibition displays the top entries from the 2023 David Malin Awards astrophotography competition. Held annually by the Central West Astronomical Society, the competition is open to Australian astronomers and photographers.

Entries were judged by a panel of three Australian astrophotographers, Peter Ward, Phil Hart and Alex Cherney, all of whom are previous winners, and the overall winner was selected by world-renowned astrophotographer Dr David Malin AM.

The competition aims to encourage photographers to use their vision, imagination and skills to produce inspiring and beautiful images of the sky. There are eight award categories plus an Australasian Sky Guide cover award from Powerhouse Museum, which administers Sydney Observatory.
