This is a rock and roll play showcasing the beginnings of iconic artists at Sun Records, Memphis. It is an Australian show, blending narrative and music, has achieved widespread acclaim, from its start at Sydney’s Sandringham Hotel to sold-out performances at the Sydney Opera House. The story is told through the perspectives of Sun Records’ founder Sam Phillips, his assistant Marion Keisker, and the legendary musicians they worked with. It features a live band performing 35 songs by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and others, with actors embodying historical figures. Critics laud it as an innovative mix of play and concert, highlighting its creativity and emotional impact. The concept, developed by John Kennedy since 2011, comes to life with a script by Kieran Carroll and direction by Louise Fischer, making it a unique piece of rock and roll theatre.
