PUBLIC TOURS OF FORMER TAFE SITE WILLIAM STREET BATHURST
Fri 6 May at 10:30 am - 5:00 pm
One event on Fri 6 May 2022, at 2:30 pm
Location: Meet in Park at Ribbon Gang Lane Gate of the former Technical College
Bookings: Bathurst Visitor Information Centre 1800 68 1000
The former Technical College is generally closed to the public. These tours offer a rare
opportunity to view the William Kemp designed building. It has rare and regionally
distinct Romanesque architectural stylings realised in brick masonry, elaborate
exposed cedar roof framing and extensive timber joinery. The building showcases the
emerging building technologies of the 1890’s and demonstrates the competence of the
trades emerging from the grass root movements of the School of Arts and Mechanics
Institutes. The tour highlights cultural and social norms of the day and how they are
reflected in the building design and layout
The What’s On calendar covers arts and heritage events happening across the NSW Central West in the local government areas of Bathurst Region, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Forbes, Lachlan, Lithgow, Mid-Western Region, Oberon, Orange, Parkes and Weddin.
