Play the Game: 100 Years of the Astley Cup

Sat 10 June - Wed 18 October

10 June 2023 – 18 October 2023

In 1923, Dubbo businessman, Lawrence Astley, donated a cup to promote sporting competition between local schools, Dubbo High School and Sacred Heart College. With disparate enrolment numbers, the schools were mismatched and just two years later competition was formalised between the three state schools west of the Blue Mountains – Bathurst, Orange, and Dubbo High Schools.

Played almost continuously since, Astley Cup is a one of the longest-running sporting competition in public school education. This exhibition celebrates 100 years of sports, scoreboards and school spirit. It’s time to Play the Game!
