Multicultural Cultural Awareness Training

Free Multicultural Cultural Awareness training for health, education and generalist service providers.

This Multicultural Cultural Awareness event is free for preregistered service providers with limited spaces available. The keynote speaker is Rosemary Kariuki, Australian of the Year 2021, Local Hero, who currently works with NSW Police as a DFV Liaison Officer in Western Sydney, particularly supporting women through domestic and family violence.

In addition, we will include Multilingual speakers and cover topics such as:

  • Multicultural Business Connect
  • Interpreter Services: Rural Sealth Interpreter Services and Centrelink
  • Migration Agent, Vanessa Vasquez
  • STARTTS (Service for the Rehabilitation of Torture Trauma Survivors)
  • Services Australia, Multicultural Service Officer
  • DV Specialist, Multicultural focus, WDVCAS/The Orchard
  • Legal Aid
  • NSW Police

The program for the day is:

  • 8.30am sign in, tea coffee served
  • 8.45am Acknowledgement and Civic Welcome
  • 9am Keynote speaker
  • Morning and afternoon tea and a light lunch will be provided.
  • Finish 3pm

Collins bookstore will have a stall with Rosemary’s book, A Joyful Life, available for book signing.

Council’s Migrant and Refugee Support Service is funded by the Department of Home Affairs. Specific DFV funding has enabled this training opportunity for service providers in the Central West.
