Montgomery Church

Cielle Montgomery and James Church are 4x Golden Guitar Award Finalists, Montgomery Church. A blend of acoustic folk, americana and bluegrass influences, grown and distilled in the Snowy Mountain ranges of NSW. With their organic union of dobro, guitar and harmony vocals, this captivating duo and their band of brilliant musicians are breaking ground in the contemporary folk-country music scene. They have toured far and wide and graced the stages of many iconic festivals including Groundwater Country Music Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Nannup Music Festival, Blue Mountains Music Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, National Folk Festival & Americanafest in Nashville.

…”Montgomery Church are like the Australian version of Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings but if Gillian was the daughter of Allison Krauss…sitting on a porch, with tea not whiskey…I’m a tad obsessed...” – Fanny Lumsden (Golden Guitar & ARIA Award Winner)

August 2021 saw Montgomery Church release their highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘Where The Quiet Can Hide’ – produced by 7 x GRAMMY nominated Producer and Engineer, Erick Jaskowiak. ‘Where the Quiet Can Hide’ earnt the duo a string of accolades, including multiple Golden Guitar and Australian Folk Award nominations, as well as national chart success with the album debuting at #3 on the ARIA Australian Country Album Charts and #2 on the Australian Independent Record Label Charts. The 10 track offering represents a true acoustic folk-country sound rarely heard in the Australian music scene today and features an all-original collection of songs written in their little house of stone amidst the scenic Snowy Mountains of NSW. Montgomery Church explore themes from Australian history, rural landscapes, heartache and sorrow through their thoughtful storytelling, longing harmonies and carefully intertwined instrumentation.

After a short hiatus in 2023, Montgomery Church, who now call the NSW Central West home, are set to release some brand new music, with their first single, “In the Sweet By and By” due to hit the airwaves this April.

This beautiful evening of live acoustic music will be complimented by the addition of VERY special guest, Sarah Humphreys.

Sarah Humphreys

Depth of heart and sweetness of soul are two things that flow freely through the music of the beloved Australian folk singer, Sarah Humphreys. From delicate folk music to personal reveries, vibrant collaborations and rousing alt-country songs, Sarah has the ability to infuse it all with her innate sensitivity and an artisanal touch in the craft of songwriting.

Sarah has toured with and worked alongside artists including Katie Noonan, Kasey Chambers, Sara Storer, Fanny Lumsden, Liz Frencham, Loren Kate, Melody Pool, Kim Richey (USA), C.W. Stoneking, Charlie Parr (USA), Blind Boys Of Alabama (USA), Harry Hookey, James Reyne, Mark Seymour (Hunters & Collectors), Kevin Bennett, Glenn Hannah, Felicity Urquart, William Crighton and many more.

“Sarah makes singing seem so effortless, graceful and easy that she leaves us feeling only the pure emotion of the words, of the song. She inspires other singers to higher heights. She sounds to me like the warm embrace of a wise, benevolent, beloved sister. She is the Karen Carpenter of our age, but with added spunk and grit.” – Matt Tonks

“From the first time I heard Sarah Humphreys’ beautiful voice I became her biggest fan. She writes songs from the heart that are real and captivating – just like the person she is.” – Kasey Chambers

Sarah returns to the stage and the road after raising her beautiful babies into sweet little kids. She lives on Wiradjuri Country in NSW in an off grid cabin with her family, her animals, her chickens and her native orphaned animals that she cares for. You can find her most days, writing and recording songs in her home studio among the gum trees. Her music and voice is like no other, she leaves her audience with full hearts and teary eyes.
