Meet Banjo Award Winner Kamille Roach
Tue 12 September at 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Banjo Paterson Writing Award 2013 Short Story winner Kamille Roach, will be launching her novel Pine Creek at Orange on Tuesday 12 September at 5.30pm.
Kamille won the competition with her short story Pilbara Ash and the judge remarked on her beautiful descriptive language evoking a wonderful sense of loss.
Now Kamille has turned her attention to publishing her second novel. She is visiting her home town of Bathurst and holding a book launch in Banjo Paterson’s’ birthplace – Orange.
About the author: My first book was A Matchbox Full of Pearls and I’m a previous student of Kelso High School, Bathurst.
My second book, Pine Creek is set in the Central Tablelands and I have drawn on my memories of the setting, time and culture in which I grew up.
This story fought its way out of my chest.
Inspired by the intense environment of drought stricken New South Wales during the 1980’s AIDS epidemic, Pine Creek centres around a family in crisis, and the mysterious death of a boy rumoured to be gay.
My writing resume includes placing in national short story competitions, winning the 2013 Banjo Paterson Writing Award, being published in numerous print and online media and two short story collections.
I’ve lived all over Australia and spent a decade on a sheep and cattle farm in central New South Wales in the 1980’s and 90’s. I now have a science degree and live in Perth.
