MATING DANCE: Anna-Wili Highfield
Fri 1 July - Sun 18 SeptemberFREE
Mudgee Arts Precinct is delighted to present Mating Dance by Anna-Wili Highfield, an installation of courtship formations. The sculptures are an homage to the brolga – Australia’s principal dancing bird. Suspended like marionettes, the birds are sewn from waxed cotton and have stopped mid-ballet, in a gesture of call, response and mimicry.
Composer and musician Bree Van Reyk has created an accompanying sound piece which will intermittently join the dancing birds with instrumentals inspired by the brolga’s bold trumpeting.
Open daily 9am – 5pm
