LIZ MAYBERRY & HELEN SWORDS JOINT EXHIBITION
Fri 17 November - Mon 18 December

Liz Mayberry
Liz made her first coiled basket in 2015, and has not stopped weaving since then!
Always experimenting with a range of materials and techniques, Liz Mayberry is happiest weaving in a group and sharing her skills with others.
She works mainly with natural materials gathered from her own garden and the environment around her, but is just as happy to use recycled fabrics, plastics, or even old wire.
Helen Swords
Helen Swords discovered her love for creating with clay in her mid thirties. Having a background in horticulture and landscaping, she was always happiest working with soil and plants creating outdoor spaces to be enjoyed.
A passion for ceramics was realised after pursuing an opportunity to study ceramics at Mudgee TAFE, where she learnt about clay as a medium and its many challenges. After achieving a Certificate 111 and Cert 1V in Ceramics at Mudgee TAFE, she went on to attain a Distance Diploma in Ceramics at the Australian National University, Canberra.
Helen attributes her ongoing passion for the subject to living in the Mudgee region where clay plays a very important role and is celebrated.
A member of the local potters group, Helen has participated in many exhibitions over the years including at the Stables, Arts Unlimited, Sculptures in the Garden, the Cudgegong Gallery and Fairview Artspace.
The majority of Helen’s work is inspired by where she lives and her passion for what grows and lives in her garden. She is excited to work with Liz Mayberry to create and combine “from the earth’ vessels and sculptural works.
